About us

The New Testament Assembly Club was started by Pastor Io Smith, MBE in 1980 when she would cook at her home and take it to 69-71 Vicarage Road, Leyton E10 – the Church building.  The project, known as the Over 60 Club, was officially launched in 1981 and initially run by volunteers.  As now, the project was church based catering for old, frail, disadvantaged people in the area.

Over the years a Luncheon Club was introduced; and a Sheltered Housing Scheme, consisting of seven self contained flats, opened on 19 May 1989 by Mr Frank Bruno.  On 5 October 1990 a second housing project, Io Smith House, catering for the needs of elderly people was opened.

It was in the early 1990’s that the Over 60 Club moved to 214 Langthorne Road, Leytonstone, London E11 as a result of growth in the Projects.  Eventually all the projects were amalgamated under the name New Testament Assembly Community Projects (NTACP).
